On November 3, vote PUBLIC OPTION for Virginia
I wrote yesterday that I will not cast my vote for Creigh Deeds because of his statement during last nights debate proclaiming that he will opt Virginia out of a public option. Instead, I will be casting a write-in ballot and encourage others who are outraged by Deeds’ statement, but also don’t want to vote for McDonnell, to do the same.
I will be writing “public option” on my ballot and encourage others to do the same. Send a powerful message to the Deeds campaign who, let’s face it, has no chance of winning anyway, the DNC and Washington, DC. Let them know we want REAL health care reform, not a watered down compromise with the devil.
UPDATE: Real Democrats can win in Virginia (keyword: REAL).

Unfortunately an abstention or a write-in is a vote against the party considering the expected low turnout. This is senseless because Creigh isn’t going to be in the Senate chambers of Congress voting on health reform; he’s going to be working on Virginia-specific policies. Don’t ideologically nationalize a statewide office. If you want Bob McDonnell in office and a discontinuation of any green policies, a guarantee of more nuclear and coal plants, more mountaintop removal and a removal of unemployment benefits, by all means, go ahead and do a write-in. Just remember that the injustices of a tyrant governor will be felt by all the rest of us — all over no turnout and a slew of write-ins. I think it’s a mistake to abandon the party.

A write-in is a vote for McDonnell.

Grit your teeth and vote Deeds. I believe that Deeds the State Senator is more representative of his lukewarm dedication to progressive causes than is Deeds the Bumbling Candidate.
