what he says is true. we are there now so the candidates (on both sides) have to deal with the “now” of the situation. and that means we CAN NOT just pull out and create a worse situation there that forces us to return. We are there now. forget all the past thoughts about what we should or should not have done. it is irrelevant. let me say that again - it is irrelevant. We ARE there and all the candidates have to realistically deal with that. Withdrawal right now is not an option. it would only make things worse.
I think there were probably those in the late 60’s saying the same thing about Vietnam that the previous poster is saying about Iraq. How many on both sides have to die before we stop killing people toward the end of achieving peace in the region? I just think it is telling and quite 1984-ish that the causes we were sold at the time to invade Iraq have absolutely nothing to do with the reasons we are still there. We are there for oil - plain and simple.
Google Project for a New American Century and find out how our government planned to invade Iraq way before 9/11 and how they said their plan would only work if there were some single catastrophic event (i.e. a New Pearl Harbor) that would make the American people follow their government into war out of fear.
Also, don’t forget to follow the money and find out who will still be raking the profits if we brought every single soldier home tomorrow. The war was more about removing Saddam, who wasn’t our ally, and putting in place a government that was sympathetic to the U.S. than anything else. What companies will still be making money in Iraq if we bring the troops home? Those are the same people who’ve been lying to us since 9/11.
Yeah, yeah sign me up. I don’t full on buy all the conspiracy theories out there. I just think a lot of it is thought-provoking and I don’t trust this administration as far as I can throw them. Ever heard of Bohemian Grove? That’s some spooky s**t.
