Thelma Drake wants Angelina Jolie to testify before Congress
We all know how crazy Representative Thelma Drake is (see here, here, here, here and here), but this is quite hilarious. Drake plans to rally Congress behind the war in Iraq (yeah right) by calling on Angelina Jolie to testify that last year’s surge of troops “appears to be working.”

In an op-ed piece for the Washington Post, Jolie called for increased humanitarian support to help Iraqi refugees and said last year’s surge of troops appears to be working.Drake, a Norfolk Republican, is pushing to get Jolie to testify to the House Armed Services Committee.
“Sadly, Ms. Jolie’s positive perspective on the current security situation in Iraq has gone largely unnoticed by the mainstream press,” Drake wrote in a letter to Rep. Ike Skelton, D-Mo., the committee chairman.
Okay first of all Thelma, since when is Angelina Jolie an expert on war or Iraq? No one can deny the great humanitarian work she has done, but really? You want Angelina Jolie to testify that things are going swimmingly in Iraq? REALLY? There’s part of the reason as to why no one is covering this, the second part may be because no one is denying that the surge helped to quell the violence, but whether there’s a dozen car bombings a day or a dozen car bombings a week, the violence level in Iraq is still sky high. Not only that, but we’re still bogged down because we have not seen any political progress in the country. Also, we’re still investing trillions in Iraq while the U.S. economy, education system and infrastructure lay in shambles after eight years of the worst administration ever.
Face it Thelma, this war was such a disaster and is so unpopular that Americans are never going to support it and will not be satisfied until the troops are home. Also, I want to wish you luck in your hunt for a new job come November.

Hmmm, I see the opinions of EVERYONE ELSE are only valid when they go along with the failed conservative “agenda.”
Also, I challenge you to find me a post where I’ve ever stated that I care about the political opinions of a celebrity.

I care about my family and my country, I didn’t approve the Iraq war and still don’t but we have a responsibility to the people of Iraq to help their citizens for the mess we created.
So yeah, it’s time to start the humanitarian aid for how long we will be there because if we don’t…I guarantee we’ll be back to that part to a bigger mess very soon…you can’t have 4 million displaced people suffering without major consequences.
I would like to see the start of competent humanitarian aid going into Iraq, with the Iraqis fully participating in the process and getting the many NGO’s and UNHCR up and running at a larger pace because no matter what the candidates say…the congress is NOT pulling out of Iraq to leave a bigger mess in Jordan, Iran, Syria and Turkey.
I’m afraid there is no easy fix but an intelligent plan of action is needed.
